A couple thoughts for our friends in Canadian-based charities:
Did you know that there are approximately 85,000 charities in Canada?
That is a lot of competition to contend with. Of course, there is good news in that the charitable sector represents a larger percentage of the GDP than the automotive or agricultural sectors, but it doesn't remove the fact that there is inevitably going to be a whole lot of clutter out there of messages from all these organizations asking Canadians for their money.
You've got to stand out in quality. You've got to demonstrate responsibility. You've got to offer something unique and/or offer it uniquely. You've got to thank your donors well.
In short, you've got to be strategic.
