When Christian Marketing Really Is Good - Radiant

The Radiant Blog

I love the video above.

In a blog post last week, I used a CNN report to discuss how the church can really turn advertising into a bad thing.

Today, I've highlighted a video that, although it isn't an advertisement for a church or a Christian group, is a wonderful example of a creative way to start a conversation...to communicate effectively.

I can't help but think, what if our church choirs could pull something like this off? It's creative stuff like this that has a great impact on the people around us and opens the door to dialogue with them. You can't tell me that no one in that food court looked at the nearest singer afterwards and asked what group they belonged to and why they did the flash mob...think of the potential there for a group of Christians to go and be creative and be excellent at it in order to create an opportunity to relate. If you want proof of the potential, go look at the comment thread on the YouTube video. The conversation is already happening.

It's quite a different approach than the billboard outside the Lincoln tunnel...and it's a far more effective one because when they sung the following lyrics, they put Christ in Christmas in a way that no one in that food court will soon forget and no billboard could ever match...

The kingdom of this world
Is become the kingdom of our Lord,
And of His Christ, and of His Christ;
And He shall reign for ever and ever,
For ever and ever, forever and ever
